Petrified Forest National Park
The park has more beautiful features and has more variety than we expected. With its location right off the interstate, this is an easy park to visit if you are traveling through the area. Even if you do not have a lot of time, take the scenic drive. There are pullouts and overlooks to take in the beauty. If you have more time, there are a lot of hiking trails, and the informational signs provide great learning opportunities. The petrified wood is so very pretty, and it does not seem real. The age of the wood fossils is mind blowing. There are tons of easy trails to view the petrified wood up close. You can see cross sections of the vibrant colors especially on the trails near the visitor center. The badlands area was surprisingly stunning as well.
