Top Things to do in Vegas

We love Vegas because there is so much to do and see. Each trip is different for us, and we try to find new things to do each time we go. We have spent about six weeks in Vegas, and we still have a list of things we want to do on future trips. There is just so many things to do in Vegas! Here are our top 20 favorite activities.

1. The strip – Just walking the strip is fun to do especially if it is your first time. Many of the hotels have themes with unique decor inside and outside such as the gondolas at the Venetian, Luxor’s Egyptian theme, Aria, Wynn, and Encore’s beautiful displays, The Cosmopolitan’s opulent art and interior, Excalibur’s medieval theme, New York New York interior and exterior design, Paris’ Eifel Tower, Ceasar’s Palace Roman theme and of course, Bellagio; the fountains and conservatory are iconic Vegas. The Linq promenade is a fun place as well with ample shops, restaurants, and bars.

2. Fremont Street Experience– It is well known for the awesome evening light show. There are street performers, ziplining, free concerts, and so much more!

3. Downtown Container Park – cool area of Vegas to explore – better at night for adults. During the day there are sometimes free magic shows.

4. High Roller – two ticket options: with or without an open bar. We got our tickets on Groupon. We chose the open bar option and made it worth it!

5. Fish pedicure – We did this at Binion’s, and it was honestly so fun and good for sore feet – we laughed the whole time! Mr. Vork is super ticklish, so the little fish bites were absolutely hilarious.

6. Pool time – Vegas pools can be relaxing or a party and are something we enjoy each trip.

7. Area 15 – You can spend a lot of time here as there are lots of activities. Omega Mart is the most popular activity, and it is fun and unique.

8. See a show – There are so many! Our favorites are Mad Apple Cirque du Soleil, Puppetry of the Penis, Nathan Burton’s Magic Show, Fantasy, the Drag Brunch Show at the Garden, and the Lost Spirits Distillery show. There is a show for everyone in Vegas!

9. Neon Museum – We loved learning about the history of Vegas and seeing the light up signs.  It was like walking through a time capsule. I recommend going at dusk or night.

10. Mob Museum – This is a huge museum with tons of cool history.

Titanic Exhibit at Luxor Las Vegas Nevada

11. Titanic Exhibit – We learned so much, and it is a well-done exhibit. When we went they had on display the largest salvaged piece of the hull. It was a surreal experience to see it.

12. Ethel M Chocolate Factory and Garden - a unique and fun combination of activities

Springs Preserve Las Vegas Nevada

13. Springs Preserve – We learned a lot here, and it was very interesting! There are hiking trails, but we liked all the educational parts even more. We were lucky enough to catch a dog show that was going on during our time there, which was really fun to watch.

14. Red Rock Canyon – The park has a beautiful scenic drive with lots of hiking trails. Reservations are now required during some parts of the year. Just the drive through the canyon with stops at the overlooks is worth it and a wonderful reprieve from the city fun.

15. Valley of Fire – easy day trip from Vegas. The park is beautiful! The hikes are as easy or challenging as you would like them to be, just remember water and sunscreen if going on a hot day. We went in early May, and it was already very hot. I would not go in summer.

Hoover Dam Arizona

16. Hoover Dam – another easy day trip to learn about and see an engineering marvel

17. Tour the national parks –The Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce, Death Valley, and Joshua Tree make for great road trips from Vegas. We like to do a nature trip in the middle of our Vegas trip and spend a few nights at one of the national parks. As a note, Bryce Canyon and Zion can be done as a pair, with their close proximity to each other. If you decide to do that, we would recommend setting aside a few extra days to be able to explore both as much as you want. Read more on the National Parks

18. Visit a unique bar – so many options here, but our top spots: Chandelier Bar at the Cosmo - Order a Verbena (it is not on the menu), Carnival Court - the best flair bartenders and live music, and Gold Spike - near Fremont Street, this bar has tons of fun indoor and outdoor games. There are so many others and too many to name, but you are sure to find a spot that you love.

19. Visit a bar with a view – Skyfall at Delano, Legacy Club at Circa, Skybar at Waldorf Astoria. These rooftop bars are absolutely worth the visit! The nighttime views are amazing!
