Best State Parks near St. Louis for Hiking

Castlewood State Park

We have been to all of the state parks in the St. Louis region, and we think these are the best state parks for great hikes. They make for easy day trips from St. Louis, or you can stay overnight. We have stayed at Washington State Park in a cabin, and we have camped at Meramec State Park. 

1. Castlewood State Park (this one is actually in St. Louis County!)

If you want to go a little further, the parks in southeastern Missouri are amazing and can be full day trips or weekend trips.
